It is necessary to have a well thought-out vision. Without a vision you are blind to which mechanics will fit nicely in the game. During the prototyping phase, you would rethink material that should have been completed before the prototype.
Planning is an integral part of designing the game. The development team will understand what to do when the vision and game mechanics are met.
It is a smooth ride after the prototype is near perfection. The cool features can be added later (feel good about this!). Planning is very important, just as important as prototyping and doing surveys.
I say kid friendly, because our society is too tough on the children. Society forces children to grow up real fast.
They need software that can not only educate them, but entertain them as well. Then the parents will trust game companies more.
Since there are no wrong answers, I say I can make mature games also. I have ideas of games that are targeted to Teens and Adults. I watched a lot of Anime, so the stories in my head are about fantasy violence. I also draw characters that engage in gruesome fights. Either way, kid-friendly and mature are my targets.
Well, it depends on who is leading who. In a philosophical way, if I am a tag-along and I contribute nothing then I, somehow, lead the others to do more work or assign me to do something.
In some way, I could be a leader, because I do not conform to the greater society. The message I am getting is that being a follower is a negative thing, and that being a leader is the only way.
If it was up to me, everyone would be leaders, and be followers at the same time.
How can planning help a game project?
